Privacy.

What we count. Visits, so we know anyone is reaching Manmonkai, and whether things work: a book page opening, a book added to the basket, a playtest signup completing, an email confirmed, a PDF downloaded, a checkout starting, someone leaving a list. Nothing else.

Nothing from us on your device. No cookies, no localStorage, no tracking pixels, nothing that follows you to other sites. That is why there is no consent banner: the counting needs nothing from your device.

Your basket. The one thing this site stores on your device is your shopping basket, kept by your own browser so it survives if you leave and come back. The shop can't work without it, and it never comes to us. Two things do leave it: adding a book is counted like any other step (we learn that someone added that title), and going to checkout passes your order to Gumroad, who takes the payment.

Telling visitors apart. To tell one busy visitor from a hundred separate ones, we turn each visitor's address into a scrambled number that lasts one day. The ingredients are thrown away at midnight. The number can't be turned back into an address, by us or anyone else, and tomorrow's number for the same visitor looks nothing like today's.

What we keep, and for how long. For 60 days: which page, which day, your country as a two-letter code, and the name of the site that linked you here (never the page you came from). After 60 days we delete that and keep only totals: how many visits, how many signups. No individual visit outlives the 60 days.

Sharing. We never sell or share what we count. No third party receives it.

Google Fonts. The typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts, so Google sees your address when a page loads, as on many sites. It gets nothing else from us, not what you read or signed up for. We intend to serve the fonts ourselves and end this.

Email. If you've given us your email for a playtest or the newsletter, that is a separate promise, kept at your preference page, where you can change or stop anything we send.
